The Value of Things

Well I was out again this weekend trying to get some video shot and edited. I have still been in somewhat of a idea drought the past few weeks. Doing videos for stock is a different animal than doing video that has a story or message. One would think that stock would be easier because it can be anything. I have found that not to be the case. When doing good stock video, yes it can be anything but at the same time it has to have value. Some would argue that none of my videos have value but that's another conversation totaly. If you do something to complex it looses it's value as stock because you are limiting the uses of the video. If you do something that is to basic it has no value becuase people could just run out and do it themselves. This paradox is where my lack of ideas stems from.

With that being said. I went out with my brother and Clint this weekend to do some shots since it was a nice day. I have found that people in suits doing things out of the ordinary sell fairly well on Istock. To my surprise it didn't take much begging to get Brock to put on a suit and go out and do some weird things in public. After loosing a lot of footage on the editing room floor (figure of speach I shoot digital) I came up with 2 clips that I uploaded to Istock. One I like personaly but don't know how well it will sell, and another that isn't as good as it could be if things would have worked out better but it is however good enought to upload and see what happens. I might end up redoing it down the line.

Passing of Timelapse

I am back! My persistence to blog is an amazing thing. I think I might even post one once a year or so. Just joking, but I have been severely slacking in the blogging arena. What's going on with Scott you say? Well I will tell you. I have been busy trying out some new things in the Videography area. Some of you that read other peoples blogs may have noticed Clint talked about the fact that he has started doing some time lapse stuff using his camera. Right around the same time I also decided to try it as well. Since my background is more in video and his is more in photography we kind of joined forces so to speak. Clint helped me with some exposures of sunlight and I helped him with video conversions and other things. I also wanted to go a little farther and experiment with rendering light and doing some digital video trickery. I really like the end result and have uploaded some new videos to my Istock site. I have wanted to step up my video production to make more substantial amounts of money instead of the couple hundred bucks I make now. I actually have been doing pretty good. I only have 45 videos on the site but I am up to almost 700 downloads. Enough of that boring stuff. I would like to share a couple of examples with you guys.

In this video I went out and took a series (170) of pictures that I brought into Photoshop and cleaned. I then brought them into Adobe Premiere and linked them together into a video. The foreground for the sunset was originally a boring field so I imported a road picture that I took on another day and used it for the foreground. Since the two are taken on completely different days facing different directions I had to fabricate all the lighting from scratch. I think end result looks pretty realistic.

I have a couple of others that I like that I have not uploaded to YouTube yet. As soon as I do I will put them up here for you to see. One of them is a time lapse from the windshield of my truck using a new camera mount I bought called a Sticky Pod. Well that's all I have today. If you read my blog keep it up I promise I will post more often.

P.S. To keep producing video I need ideas. If anybody has any let me know.

At the dentist again!!

Well here I am again I am a little behind on the blogging thing. I get
caught up in periods of writers block and literaly don't have a thing
to blog about. My last blog was about the dentist so I just thought it
was fitting that this blog should be sent from the dentist chair. I
watched the Obama speach last night and am finaly getting a grasp on
the financial crisis. The most disturbing thing about it all is at
this time when America needs it's money the most the people in power
seem to still want to push in there special intrests and earmarks. It
realy is unbelivable. I think it is time that we as Americans stand up
and tell the people in power that we have has enough. That is what it
is going to take before this gets sorted out. If not then God help us
all.

The Dentist

I have never feared going to the dentist. I guess I haven't ever had one of those life changing moments or "bad experiences" that most people talk about. I have always had pretty good teeth and no aches or pains. Through the end of high school and all the way through college years I never went to the dentist. I know that makes me a horrible person and I should be put out of my missory right now. I don't know why I didn't go. I think it was the lack of insurance for most of the time. The biggest factor is probably out of sight out of mind. I just didn't have any problems to go to the dentist about. Untill December of 2008. I had a back molder decide that it couldn't handle the pressure any longer and poof it was gone. Amazingly even then nothing hurt. Anyway I decided to go to the dentist. I went and and saw him one morning the looked at my mouth and told me about a few things that he wanted to fix. He proceeded to prep my tooth for a new crown. After the temp was put on I was told that I could come back after the holidays and have the real one on and get a much needed cleaning. I made it back yesterday to get my new crown and cleaning. The crown didn't fit and now I have to come back in Febuary and get it put on again. After I left every tooth in my face hurt especialy the temp that they had to put back in my head. Things are a little better today but I have a great sinsitivity to hot and cold things now. It just seems funny to me that you can go so long without anything hurting, and when you decide to get things fixed that's when all the problems start. I have concluded that it is all really an elaborate scam that everyone is in on. This thing goes all the way to the government. All the brainwashing about brushing our teeth and going to the dentist for checkups that they drilled into our heads all those years.

Well its another saturday In the greatest season in the world Football season. ASU came out of the gates 2-0 Rodney and I are on the way to watch them take on So Miss. It should be a pretty good matchup. Right now I am at Rodney's apt waiting on his clothes to dry and watching dawsons creek. Because everyone knows there is nothing like dawsons creek to get you ramped up for a good football game. Well as you may see I am a man of few words as far as bloging goes. You will probably see many short blogs per day or several pictures. That I think are notable.
